- In the long term you have to keep in mind that your hair loss process will continue. If you have 5000 hairs transplanted in a thinning area and you lose another 3000 following the transplant you may feel as if the transplant failed while it’s due to your continuing hair loss.

Alopecia Areata
Is Alopecia Areata permanent?
In most cases Alopecia Areata will go away. If it progresses to Alopecia Totalis (loss of all or most of the scalp hair) or Alopecia Universalis, then it’s usually permanent or long lasting. In case of nail changes it’s more likely to be long lasting or permanent.

There is a great variation in the duration of individual patches of AA. From few months to a year. Most patches of AA will clear spontaneously without any treatment.
